Dates: Aug 2007 to Dec 2007
How did the project start?
A Community Interest Company, VictimCare, contacted us in order to design their identity, brochure and website. The company was a start up business launched in reaction to new government initiatives around CICs. The purpose of VictimCare is to provide people affected by homicide with expert help, advice and counselling.
What options did you consider?
Our client expressed an interest in a flash focussed website, however we felt that complicated flash animations could have a negative impact on the site and may alienate their audience. So we designed a very calm and simple animation. This added an air of professionalism to the site without looking gimmicky or unnecessary.
What help and expertise did you receive?
We were very much lead by our clients as experts on the subject matter. We knew that the site had to have a calm and expert feel so this ruled out high impact imagery.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
The subject matter meant that we had to carefully consider the style and content of the site.
We were dealing with hugely personal and emotive topics so creating the correct tone of voice without being sentimental or patronising was key.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
The site has helped launch a nationwide community interest company and has meant that many more people affected by homicide are now able to receive more relevant help, advice and counselling.
What are your plans for the future?
The website will help VictimCare achieve their goal of providing nationwide training for individuals, businesses and government departments to understand and deal with the effects of homicide.
