How did the project start?

The Black Door Group had successful restaurants but felt their existing websites didn't support their offering. New websites were required which would help customers be involved and keep them up to date with news and offers from the Group.

What options did you consider?

We considered designing one large website but felt this may mean that key marketing messages would get lost amongst generic content.

It was decided we would design a portal page and two mini sites. This approach meant that each site would have a more atmospheric and intimate feel, reflecting the restaurants, whilst allowing us to create unique marketing campaigns to each site.

What help and expertise did you receive?

We worked with with search engine, pr and e-marketing specialists to ensure that we maximized the potential of the website. The website has a strong visual presence and is now effectively and consistently promoting the Black Door brand.

Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?

The main challenge was to design a portal page that would direct traffic to each of Black Door's restaurants. Each site had to achieve a similar look and feel as part of the larger Black Door Group whilst injecting some of the restaurants unique personality.

What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?

After launching redesigned websites for the Black Door Restaurant, Bistro and Group the Black Door experienced a fantastic response to the online booking enquiry, making them realise the potential of not only the website, but a strong marketing approach.

Our strategic approach to client work is proving successful as we have recently pitched and won several new accounts on the strength of our overall approach, not just the quality of design work.

What are your plans for the future?

Since the launch, we have worked with the Black Door Group to develop a clear, achievable marketing strategy and budget which will be put into practice across e-marketing, printed promotional material and advertising throughout 2008.
