How did the project start?
Long-term friend opened a new winery in Northern Italy (Valdobbiadene, Veneto) and approached us to open the UK Market
What options did you consider?
Merchant / Trade Sales, but decided to focus on a personal service directly to the end-consumer
What help and expertise did you receive?
Undertook market survey via Durham Business School and used our own experience of eCommerce
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
Challenge is building reputation and reach for brand new products in a very saturated market
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
Very positive start - good customer feedback on the website - taking opportunities to offer personal service and following up with tastings etc
What are your plans for the future?
To add more wines to our range and to open other channels such as Olive Oils etc
