How did the project start?
Client wished to reduce international calls and work with a web based CRM system we developed for them.
What options did you consider?
Using Asterisk / Trixbox / Commercial and open source applications.
What help and expertise did you receive?
Help was available from a range of telecoms companies. Hardware manufactures and local companies within the Tees Valley.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
The biggest challenge was to find hardware platform to develop the application. We learned that it was easy to work with smaller hardware platforms and there was no need for large computer systems to run these applications. The platform needed to be cost effective and easy to integrate with VOIP technology, PTSN and the web based CRM application.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
From working with the clients we are currently in development of a new product to solve the problem of SMEs needs of affordable professional VOIP based PBX systems.
What are your plans for the future?
To develop small VOIP applications aimed at the general SME market.
To add VOIP in our management information systems and customer relationship management systems.
