Dates: Sep 2007 to Mar 2008
How did the project start?
Watching people struggling with hand written program cards whilst listening to their iPods and trying to do a workout in the gym, I thought their must be a way of combining the two together.
What options did you consider?
I looked at developing a computer program to send peoples iPods. I then looked at filming clips and then the internet.
What help and expertise did you receive?
Working with film production company 21st Century Media and computer programmers Grape Media I found I could combine the iPod and computer with film and computer software to create a new product in an existing market updating an old idea of hand written program cards.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
This had never been done before, the idea had not been tested, the technology had not been invented and some of the technology was not even available. I learned how to think outside the box and try and try again. If you really believe in something you can make it happen.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
We have combined film production with new software to work with the new technology of the iPod. This has enabled us to create a new product in an existing market solving a problem which people didn’t know could be solved.
What are your plans for the future?
To be the first and biggest supplier to the health club industry of exercise film clips to iPod devices and roll out and be a global brand.
