Dates: Jan 2008 to Mar 2008
How did the project start?
Our site was established in December 2005 and after updating the look and feel of the site in the last few years, this year we decided to optimise the site for SEO and also develop the community aspect of the site. We have now added a members section, charity of the month page and also a VIP scheme for our players.
What options did you consider?
We considered getting in a SEO consultant and also doing it in house.
For the community aspect it was simply a case of developing what we already had on the site. After being voted 3rd in the Which Bingo site of the year competition.
What help and expertise did you receive?
We spoke to some SEO and online consultants, but in the end it was our staff who studied and implemented the changes.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
As we are a fairly young company we had limited knowledge of SEO, however our talented Online Marketing Executive took it upon himself with the assistance of our Managing Director to optimise the site.
We learned that SEO is not as easy as you think, it's a skill and important to the success of any site.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
Our site has now made a massive leap in the search rankings. This has increased the number of visitors to the site and increased our revenue.
The community developments have been important in our customer retention and life time value of players, again increasing revenue and also adding value to the site for our community of players.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future we will be striving to develop our external SEO by building links with respected quality websites.
We also want to do more with player feedback, making our players feel like they are part of the Crown Bingo family, not just on another generic bingo site.
