Dates: Feb 2007 to Feb 2009
How did the project start?
As a member I approached Bridge Club with the idea to increase publicity and member benefits by recording and making available the regular 'In Conversation With...' events on the internet and via iTunes.
What options did you consider?
We considered video and audio only podcasts, eventually deciding that the presence of a camera may change the dynamics of the event and the interaction between the interviewer and interviewee. So the audio only format was selected.
What help and expertise did you receive?
We worked closely with Bridge Club and their web team to ensure all needs were met within a tight budget.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
The biggest challenge was ensuring that the recording was edited and made available within 16 hours of the event, which we have achieved on each occasion. Both Media Arts and Bridge Club felt that to make full use of the idea we should make the audio available as soon as possible for the audience.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
The podcast has become a regular feature of Bridge Club's events and has a good base of subscribers throughout the north east as well as further afield in Australia, America, Asia and Europe. As a member benefit it allows people who have not been able to make the actual event to not miss out.
For Media Arts it has helped raise the profile of our business, the podcasting services in particular and has helped us gain similar work with other companies by using the Bridge Club Business Podcasts as an example of what can be achieved.
What are your plans for the future?
The podcast will continue to be a feature of Bridge Club events.
As a result of the success of this project Media Arts have invested in a portable editing facility to compliment our existing equipment to enable an even quicker turnaround for recordings.
