How did the project start?

We were approached by the charity to pitch for the website as they had liked our previous work in the voluntary sector.

What options did you consider?

There was so much scope for what could be included that we could only concentrate on some of the ideas we had. In the final version of the site, some of the features we included were: flash video of the school, some excellent photography of the residents and a focus on accessibility in the site.

What help and expertise did you receive?

We received a great deal of help and encouragement from the RSD themselves with regard to some aspects of the site that related to particular communication disorders. For example, the homepage of the site features a 'scent of the day' which coincides with the scent of the day at the RSD.

Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?

One of the main problems with the previous RSD website was how they presented the vast amount of information it contained. We worked with the RSD to create a new, eye-catching and easy-to-navigate portal.

What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?

The website is now split into three main colour-coded sections and there is a clear focus for the public to donate without this being thrust too heavily in their face.

What are your plans for the future?

The RSD are currently looking at the final stages of rebranding and this will be incorporated into the website. In addition we will be focusing on the donations area of the site to make it even easier to use.
