Dates: Jun 2007 to Jul 2007
How did the project start?
Six String Designs was setup to promote an online portfolio of my work to potential clients interested in my freelancing work or other web companies interested in employing me.
What options did you consider?
I had thought about something perhaps more HTML dominated but felt that Flash was the perfect tool to deliver something that would grab attention and stand out from other portfolios. I felt I did this through the navigation and in particular the cartoon animations (see 'Gallery')
What help and expertise did you receive?
I am self taught in Flash using textbooks and online forums for support with the trickier elements.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
Implementing Flash into a website these days can be tricky as it tends to make the page fail wc3 standard compliancy but using the ‘Flash Satay’ method (look for it in Google!) this was achieved.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
I have successfully acquired employment with a local more established web design company and feel that this project was the sole reason I got it.
What are your plans for the future?
To learn how to use Flash CS3 and write The Steak and Kidney Kid Part 2!
