How did the project start?
The Cathedral Secretary at St Nicholas contacted us in order to design their identity and website. They had existing branding but thought it was too stuffy. The aim was to modernise the feel of the Cathedral to attract a new congregation.
What options did you consider?
The client was keen to show the highlights of the Cathedral in an interesting way. So we created the Virtual Tour which gives the user a chance to discover the '12 must see' features of the Cathedral. Have you seen them?
What help and expertise did you receive?
The client really had faith in us to achieve their aim so we were giving a free reign.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
It was difficult to get away from being too 'Churchy' and 'stuffy' because of the subject matter. We managed to achieve this by using elements of the Cathedral in a modern way such as the stained glass on the background of the website.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
The website was launched on a large screen at the front of the church to a huge congregation. Several of the groups associated with the Church now use the site regularly for information.
What are your plans for the future?
We hope to provide the Cathedral with new ideas to attract visitors to the website and cathedral itself throughout the year.
