How did the project start?
It's a small world.
We met the client during a day sailing on the Thames in a Tall Ship courtesy of one of our mutual clients: Hilary Lister. They over heard me say I was from the North East and as they were from the region too they introduced themselves.
On hearing what their business was, how they we're looking to further develop their website and we're looking for new ways to move their business forward we knew we had the answers to their needs.
What options did you consider?
The Polar Front team have a very unique product. We knew we had to develop a unique solution to the questions they asked of us.
We looked at RSS Feeds to allow easy content management of their site when they are at sea.
We looked at creating a site that reflected the environmental aspects and message of their business.
We looked at the future development of this project and the implementation of the site into various other languages.
What help and expertise did you receive?
As with all the new, challenging projects we undertake, we always look to the expertise and help we can source from the ever expanding online web design community.
These community blog groups and coding sources are not only invaluable in the development of our websites but are also important in the creation of the bespoke tools and designs we endeavour to deliver for all our clients.
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
As with all websites, the main challenge we faced was browser compliance. The design we created for The Polar Front team gave us a few browser headaches but we overcame these.
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
The new website has increased the level of interest in The Polar Front and its business. We've almost completed the full Search Engine Optimising of the site but recent statistics have showed us that the website is getting better SEO results already.
What are your plans for the future?
The future plans for the website are to make the site available in different languages, add an online shopping cart and create a News From The Polar Front Blog.
