How did the project start?
Crackslist was set up to provide a forum for our readers to network, exchange, advertise and collaborate .We knew from talking to readers that they were looking for ways to get audiences to events, find new band members, start new hobbies
What options did you consider?
Cost was the biggest consideration - we had no cash to build and maintain this project so we used free phpbb software.
What help and expertise did you receive?
craigslist in San Francisco was the biggest inspiration of a thriving user generated community
Did you face any challenges or learn any lessons?
spambots!!!
What are the outcomes and how has it improved your business?
We now have a regular user base which gives our users needs and wants a forum. Our weekly eletter picks highlights from crackslist postings and delivers them direct to subscriber emails
Improves our business by providing a brand new service and interactive platform for our readers with little cost and outlay
What are your plans for the future?
Let more people know about the delights of crackslist as a local forum and generate more users through advertising
